Project Manager - Houston, TX
The Project Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating and exercising functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering projects within area of assigned responsibility.
Participates in the development of proposal materials, scopes of work, schedules and fees for projects pursued by the firm. Tracks future opportunities, participates in client interviews, and assists with the negotiation of contracts.
Maintains relationships with current and past clients, including prepositioning the firm for future opportunities.
Executes projects within schedule, budget, and scope to meet client expectations and profit goals.
Leads and/or manages field activities as required to ensure the quality of the data collected and that the scope or work is met.
Follows V&A’s project management procedures and delegates tasks as required.
Communicates project delays, budget overruns, and potential scope creep to the Regional Manager and/or Technical Leads in a timely manner.
Maintains active membership with technical association(s) approved by management.
Attends meetings and seminars as a representative of V&A.
Prepares detailed construction cost estimates and schedules.
Prepares and signs plans and specifications, and oversees the development of complete construction bid packages.
Uses technical and/or engineering knowledge to complete calculations, summarize results, and write reports.
Maintains target billable ratio.
Ensures the maintenance, cleaning, and general upkeep of all V&A equipment, tools, vehicles, and office and warehouse spaces utilized during the execution of the project.
Utilizes available staff to complete projects in approximate proportion to the resource allocation estimates.
Completes project closing procedures for all projects.
Education, Experience & Knowledge
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid California Driver’s License. Registered as a civil, mechanical, electrical, corrosion or chemical engineer.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in similar nature to this position. Must have managed a $2,000,000 of profitable projects in the last three years.
